Artist's Comments

I've often browsed the forum at Concept Art.org and been too intimidated to actually sign up, but recently I found the nerve to actually register and post. Thus far I've only participated in their "Character of the Week" challenge, but I learned a lot from it. The most recent competition had the theme of "The Herald of the Queen", and there were some very spectacular entries. I didn't stand a chance, but just being able to finish and receive some good criticism was worth it.

So that said, I'm not entirely happy with this piece now that I've sat back and looked at it, but I'm posting it anyway. I don't think I've ever completed a digital piece that wasn't colored cel-style, or at least had some obvious outlines on it, so this was a major challenge for me. But I learned a lot, and I hope that it will help me in my future artwork. Browsing around CA.org really makes me realize how much harder I need to work. :)

(That being said, there isn't much I can critique you on that the CA.org folk didn't already cover in-depth, hum?) ^_^;

But yeah~! Way to step up your game and setting your sights on the big time. :3 It's a tough road, but practice will help every step of the way. :nod:

It's very good. And WOOT! NEW TIFF ART!!1111111111111 (does the happy dance)

But seriously and more adult like. (adjusts neck tie and puts on serious glasses) I know it's hard since we ALL do it. Don't beat yourself up too much. You are very good and very skilled. You just need to focus.

Yeah, I know, I know. "Mr Pot? There's a call from a Ms Kettle that has a statement about a decor conflict." But I do mean it. If you were perfect at everything you do, it wouldn't be interesting or fun to draw now would it?

Just relax and keep trying your best. And I'll even try to listen to my own advice for once.

I like the way this Steve guy thinks. :D

I absolutely love the coloring you did on this one! You're right, it's different from your usual style, but he looks great! (also like the background. Good job!
